(bass) geboren 1975 in ottawa (can), lebt in berlin. derek shirley lebte und studierte in montreal/canada, von wo er intensiv mit bands wie zebradonk und the woodchoppers association in kanada und den usa tourte, bevor er im jahr 2001 nach berlin zog.dort ist er seitdem in zahlreichen projekten zwischen improvisierter musik, noise rock und jazz aktiv, so zum beispiel bei hotelgäste, michael thieke unununium, coal oven, paul brody's tango toy, silk convertor, alfred france und in der experimenatl-noise-band monno (mit antoine chessex, gilles aubry, marc fantini). er spielte unter anderm mit david moss, michael griener, mathias bauer, chris dahlgren, tony buck, cd veröffentlichungen seiner projekte sind auf den labels charhizma, conspiracy und schraum zu finden.
